A small acrylic painting on paper of someone taking a pendant out of a a box with trinkets and keepsakes.
I'm happy with how this turned out. I've had this idea for quite some time now and I just had to do something with it. My initial idea was for a landscape orientated composition with a lot more glittery and obviously fake, cheap trinkets strewn around out of which this hand would lift this obviously ancient rare, exquisite eggshaped phoenix pendant.* This picture might also still happen, who knows. Due to having just two hands and one hand having to hold a camera while taking a picture of the other hand, I decided to make it a more intimite and small affair. What you see here is a small old tin box and my own personal keepsakes and trinkets. Which explains the golden wooden shoes.
It turns out that the necessity of scaling it down gave this painting a different spin on things and it's now far more personal. So apart from horrible textured paper: yay!!
* how many adjectives can you put in front of one word?
While painting it it became more about past experiences and memories and what you gain from that or how you rise above it in some cases. Odd how that happens
